The University of São Paulo is honored for hosting the 2018 edition of the ASCE-ICVRAM-ISUMA Conferences. This first South-American edition of the above conferences brings together the Brazilian ABCM initiative: UNCERTAINTIES.
ASCE-ICVRAM provides a multi-disciplinary forum for the exchange of knowledge and expertise, in the Quantification, Mitigation and Management of Risks, and related Decision Making, with a focus on Infrastructure Vulnerability, Robustness and Resilience. The ICVRAM conference series, starting 2011, is currently sponsored by the ASCE Infrastructure Resilience Division (IRD), by way of its Communications and Dissemination Committee (ASCE-IRD-CDC). The IRD was established in 2014 to develop a unified approach in advancing the concepts of resiliency within lifeline and infrastructure systems. The Infrastructure Resilience Division develops resources for improving the resilience of civil infrastructure and lifeline systems to all hazards.
The ISUMA and UNCERTAINTIES conferences focus on multi-disciplinary methods and tools for uncertainty modelling, analysis and quantification. The ISUMA series, beginning 1990, is an initiative from University of Maryland. The UNCERTAINTIES series, beginning 2012, is an initiative by the Committee on Stochastic Modeling and Uncertainty Quantification, of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering (ABCM).
The joint ICVRAM-ISUMA-UNCERTAINTIES conferences will take place in the beautiful island of Florianópolis, SC, Brazil, April 8-11, 2018. The conference organizers aim at providing an appropriate atmosphere for the exchange of experiences, with sufficient free time for scientific interactions. Presentations will be comprised of oral sessions and poster sessions. A policy of No Presentation – No Paper will be adopted. English is the official language of the event, to be used in written articles, and in poster and oral presentations. A CD-ROM with conference proceedings will be produced and delivered to all participants. Proceedings will contain full papers, including short abstract, OR an extended abstract of each paper, at the authors discretion.
